February 4, 2017 | Malcolm Bell | Leave a comment With less than a week before the referendum, we have seen several questions across various websites and forums along the lines of “What does a YES or NO vote actually mean?” A NO vote will not stop development in the future but it means that Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in their decision making on planning applications will not take into consideration the Neighbourhood Plan policies which have been informed by the views of the parish community. A YES vote will not stop development in the future but it will mean Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council will use the Neighbourhood Plan policies, which have been informed by the views of the parish community, to help determine planning applications in the parish. If the Neighbourhood Plan is adopted following a majority YES vote at referendum, then the Neighbourhood Plan will sit alongside the borough’s council’s Local Plan.
